Douglas takes first MMSA win at Thunder Valley 7/18

17 Upright Mini-Sprints signed into Thunder Valley Raceway in Salem, Indiana 7/18 on a very hot and muggy night. Ryan Broughton, Seth Motsinger, and JR Douglas took the heat race wins.

At the start of the 20 lap main JR Douglas took advantage of his pole starting position and jumped out to an early lead. The best battle of the night though was for the second position with numerous drivers battling on the tight ¼ mile. Nathan Mensendiek would originally claim the spot, battling at times 2 and 3 wide with Ryan Broughton and Lynn Ambrose. Broughton would take the spot, only to be passed a lap later by Ambrose. Austin Archdale would then make contact with Broughton, sending Archdale upside down. His machine received minimal damage, and was able to continue from the tale. On the restart JR Douglas continued to stretch his lead while Broughton and Ambrose continued to battle for second. Hard charger Scott Bradley would eventually pass Broughton, leaving Broughton to 4th. Meanwhile JR Douglas led wire to wire to take his first career mini-sprint victory. Following Douglas to the line was Lynn Ambrose, Scott Bradley, Ryan Broughton, and Kenny Burr rounding out the top 5. Scott Bradley received the hard charger award, while Lee Deckard received the award for the top 600cc car.
