Night one of the MMSA winter nationals at New
Hendry county speedway, was a great night of racing, with
temperatures in the 80s every one was ready for some racing
action.
The night got under way wit two heat races for the 1000cc
mini sprints, with Ryan Broughton taking the checkers in heat
one. Heat two went to Jeff Barnhart
As the cars took to the track for the feature it was Derek
Campbell and John Evans sharing the front row, at the drop of
the green it was Jeff Barnhart taking the lead from the fourth
starting spot followed by Campbell and Broughton, on lap 3
Broughton pulled to the infield with a flat tire. Barnhart
opened up a huge lead until a caution on lap 12 for a spinning
Hud Horton bunched the field. On the restart Barnhart once again
pulled to a big lead, he was followed by Campbell and JR
Roberts. On lap 17 Barnhart's great run came to a end when he
stopped in turn one with mechanical failure. On the restart
Campbell went on unchallenged for the victory, he was followed
to the checkers by Roberts, Seth Motsinger, Kevin Roberts Jr and
Hud Horton.
