Night one of the MMSA winter nationals at New Hendry county speedway, was a great night of racing, with temperatures in the 80s every one was ready for some racing action.

The night got under way wit two heat races for the 1000cc mini sprints, with Ryan Broughton taking the checkers in heat one. Heat two went to Jeff Barnhart

As the cars took to the track for the feature it was Derek Campbell and John Evans sharing the front row, at the drop of the green it was Jeff Barnhart taking the lead from the fourth starting spot followed by Campbell and Broughton, on lap 3 Broughton pulled to the infield with a flat tire. Barnhart opened up a huge lead until a caution on lap 12 for a spinning Hud Horton bunched the field. On the restart Barnhart once again pulled to a big lead, he was followed by Campbell and JR Roberts. On lap 17 Barnhart's great run came to a end when he stopped in turn one with mechanical failure.
