Congrats to 2012 Champion Beau Binder

Beau Binder Feature Winner 5-11-13

On Sunday May 26th we will at Charlestown, IN "Winged Warrior" event for the MMSA, SPECIAL purse for this race, watch for details, this is a Terry Eaglin promoted event including the " King Of Indiana TQ's " and other classes, we all need to support this event as it is very important to the possibility of additional races at this track, The track is well suited for the smaller, open wheel division cars. Terry has made a tremendous effort and commitment into this event, Let's all show our support with a huge car count and many fans.

The MMSA will be back to Brownstown, IN this sat. June 1st, regular payout plus $50 Speedway Motors, INC. merch. cert. to the winner.

We need to improve the car counts if we want to continue a travelling series, it's depends on the response from the Racers.

The race at Charlestown, IN on sun. May 26th will also have a higher payout and bonuses, watch for more details in the near future, plan to be there.

The payout has been adjusted to help the bottom end, ( check the bottom of the schedule pg.) to help compensate for the reduction at the top we will set aside $50 each race toward  a point fund to be paid out to the top 3 points leaders at seasons end, (ie. 18 races, 1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd, $150)  We will award 10 gift certificates ($50) from Speedway Motors, Inc.at specific races during the season. Other awards will be announced as they are confirmed.

American Racer will award a $25 merchandise certificate at all MMSA races to the highest finishing car on all four American Racer tires.

Thanks to Tony Rose, American Racer Tire Rep. An "Allen Ruppenthal Sportsmanship trophy" will be awarded to a person voted in by MMSA members and staff at seasons end, to be presented at the annual Banquet.

Attention all racers, the 2014 season motor rules will look like the Waynesfield & other midwest rules, we will attempt to move to stock. more details will be posted in the near future.

In reference to experimental engines:

At some point in the future, The sport may need to transition into some new/different engine packages for whatever reasons, At this point, the performance of these engines is unknown, I'm not opposed to allowing anyone that's willing to make the risk investment a trial with no guarantee of immediate acceptance.

One of the goals of the MMSA is to keep costs as low as possible, thus, providing the opportunity for more cars and close competition (the reason for the 2013 engine inspection procedure) and eliminate the expensive "Built" engines. The higher cost and low availability of these new engines may tilt the playing field in favor of the wealthy owner resulting in causing other serious racers to spend more money to compete at the top, discouraging new comers from joining and forcing others to leave the sport. We need to protect the existing field of cars that have invested in known/accepted performance packages.

Experimental engines will be allowed to compete with the MMSA under the following conditions. Cars w/Driver minimum weight 1,050 lb's. on gas or alcohol and/or w/qc rearend.

Performance will be evaluated after two races to determine whether or not to accept as legal, or require further test/evaluation. during these two races, the car will be scored last (in the A main) and receive no more than $100 payout.

This will allow anyone wanting to try a different, more expensive engine the opportunity for a comparison experiment (at their expense)with minimum affect on existing cars, we must be very careful to prevent the high dollar equipment from being a detriment to the sport, we need to maintain a full field of cars in order to schedule races. It is unknown at this time if we have the tools to properly tech, some of these engines,

Contact me if you have any questions or need additional information. Bill May

Rules Further Updated 12-6-12

Thanks to all of those attending the Banquet, 45 total, 15 different cars/crews were represented including all of the top 10 in points and Rookie of the year, plus special guests,
Larry Fasse of Speed Partz (Hard Charger sponsor) and Tony Rose, American Racer Tire Rep.

After the meal and trophy awards, we reviewed the 2012 season stats and discussed plans for the 2013 season, schedule, tracks, rules, etc. announcing the new engine inspection policy
resulted in several questions. In response to those questions, I offer the following remarks, Aftermarket internal parts and modification of stock parts have always been "illegal" with the MMSA, if you have been racing with any of these in your engine, "You have been CHEATING" One of the initial goals of the MMSA was to keep engine cost to a minimum, thus, the stock 1,000cc motors, allowing alcohol conversion as the only modification. but, we only checked Bore & Stroke, therefore, some people chose to see what they could get by with in an effort to gain an "unfair advantage. Apparently and unfortunately not having confidence in their own skill or ability to be competitive otherwise, sorting through all the BS this is what it amounts to in my opinion.

The new inspection policy still allows the possibility for an illegal car to win a couple of races (unless the protest rule is applied) before being detected, disqualified and "BANNED" from the MMSA I do not wish this to happen to any one.

We are attempting to provide as level playing field as possible, however, that term is not reality, remember the old IROC series, where all of the cars were identical, well, guess what, someone won each race and all of the other cars lost, how did that happen? A vast array of variables during the course of the event including driver skill and some luck maybe. something to think about when you accuse any or all of the cars finishing in front of you to be illegal.

In applying the new inspection policy, the only engine modifications allowed are (1) Milling the head, may save a warped head. (2) match porting & polishing (3) degreeing the cams.
To cover in and all "gray" areas, any other deviation from stock (bolts, springs, etc.) you will need written approval from the MMSA.

More information concerning the 2013 season will be posted within the next few weeks.
